Shorts a touch too long
in some eyes too short
it doesn’t really matter
if there’s no-one who cares
Well muscled legs
maybe sport maybe gym hours
or pram pushing perhaps
or wheel chair chores
Ice cream van impositions
harsh tunes and engine fumes
yielding noisy kids nagging
and tired parents’ despair
Bright sun and red faces
sweaty clothes clinging
the burnt skin will heal
but the skin cancer might not
An old dog limping badly
only just keeping up
his owner’s sad final years
matching his pet’s dying days
Walking slowly with tired feet
scrunched grass and dead leaves
rain will be welcomed
but our grime will remain
